Historically craps is a simplified version of an old English game called hazard, the origins are complicated and go back to the time of the Crusades. In more recent history the game did take on some influence from French gamblers and has now evolved into what we see as the modern game that was introduced to New Orleans in the USA, by Bernard Xavier Philippe de Marigny de Mandeville. The game is based on players betting against the casino on the outcome one or more dice rolls.
