How to Play Stud Poker

Stud poker table hire is proving to be very popular these days, as is any form of poker table hire, as more and more people are taking advantage of mobile casino nights, and below you will find the rules on how to play Stud Poker.

Stud Poker is actually a very popular form of the game; it just doesn't get as much media coverage as the more popular Texas Holdem does. Five card Stud Poker and seven card Stud Poker are two of the more popular games, though depending on where you play you will find other variants as well. Seven card Stud Poker is still played in casinos around the world today, and is still the preferred choice of many experienced card players.

Each player will be dealt two cards face down and one card face up, and the player with the lowest card will start the first round of betting, called a bring-in. Betting continues clockwise around the table with players either folding, betting or raising in the same way as they would in a game of Holdem. Once all players have bet the dealer will deal all remaining players another card face up. The player showing the best poker hand with their two showing cards will open this particular round of betting, and betting will then continue as before.

Another two rounds follow, with players again being dealt their cards face up, and the betting continues as before with the player showing the best ranking poker hand opening the betting first.

The final card is dealt to all remaining players face down, with this being known as the downcard, and a final round of betting is played out in exactly the same way as the previous rounds. If any player folds leaving one player left they will take the pot, if two or more players are left in at the end of the game they show their cards as they would in a normal game of poker, with the object being to have the best five card hand possible.
