Case Study: Charity Casino Night at Soho House Television Centre London
Event Overview
On 10th June, Finesse Casinos provided casino entertainment for a black tie charity fundraising evening at Soho House, 2 Television Centre in Shepherd’s Bush. Set within the iconic former home of the BBC, the venue provided a striking backdrop for a high-energy evening of fundraising, socialising and casino entertainment.
The event welcomed around 180 guests, primarily parents of children attending a private school, and combined casino tables, personalised fun money, canapés, a free bar, interactive fundraising and a major charity auction.
The Casino Setup
For the evening, Finesse Casinos supplied a five-table casino setup:
- 2 Blackjack tables
- 2 Roulette tables
- 1 Dice / Craps table
A dedicated casino area was created on one side of the function space, allowing the tables to form a clear focal point while still fitting naturally within the wider event layout.
The casino ran from 7:00pm until 10:00pm, with a break during the evening for the charity auction and raffle.
Personalised Fun Money
A particularly memorable detail was the personalised fun money, which featured a picture of the Headmistress. This gave the casino a bespoke feel and tied it directly into the character of the school fundraising event.
The casino was officially opened by the Headmistress, helping create a strong start to the evening and encouraging guests to get involved from the outset.
Guest Engagement and Atmosphere
Once the tables opened and guests began purchasing fun money through charity donations, the casino area quickly became busy. The two blackjack tables were especially popular, although all tables saw strong engagement throughout the evening.
There was a good mix of experienced players and guests who had never played casino games before. Our croupiers helped keep the experience welcoming and easy to follow, allowing new players to join in confidently while still keeping the games lively for those with more experience.
The overall atmosphere was engaging, enjoyable and very positive for fundraising. Guests moved well between tables, creating strong rotation and a sociable feel across the casino area.
The Fundraising Element
The casino formed part of a wider interactive fundraising evening, with the event structured around both entertainment and charitable giving. The casino and fundraising activity were central features of the night, rather than simply added background entertainment.
The evening also included a charity auction hosted by an auctioneer from Sotheby’s. One of the standout moments saw a Formula 1 package receive a £22,000 donation, helping make the auction one of the major highlights of the night.
In total, the event raised around £68,000 for charity, making it a hugely successful evening for the organisers and beneficiaries.
The Competition
The casino was run as a competition, adding extra excitement and friendly rivalry to the evening. Prizes included vouchers and school-themed rewards, such as relaxed rules for students, including one prize allowing a class to wear make-up where it would not usually be permitted.
Although there were a few big winners during the evening, many guests were focused more on supporting the charity than protecting their winnings, which helped keep the mood relaxed, generous and fun.
Our Team on the Night
The event was delivered by Andy, Leo, Derek, Laura and Suan Li, who managed the tables throughout the evening and helped create a smooth, professional and enjoyable casino experience.
With a large guest list and a mix of new and experienced players, the team’s approachable style was important in keeping the tables accessible, busy and enjoyable for everyone.
Client Feedback
The client was very happy at the end of the evening, with excellent feedback across all the casino tables. Guests who played were highly engaged, and the casino helped create a lovely social atmosphere that brought people together.
The organisers were ecstatic with the overall success of the event, particularly the fundraising total of around £68,000.
