Film ideas for a casino theme night

Anyone planning a casino night may want to think about how they can spice things up a bit by drawing on a theme. Films make for great party themes and you’ll find no shortage of awesome movies featuring casinos. Here’s a look at some of the best and most famous films that could inspire your casino night. You could go for Rain Man, but we think the following three flicks are the best.

Casino

The name says it all. This movie is all about the mob and its involvement in Las Vegas casinos. In terms of planning a theme it offers a classic combo – gambling and the Mafia. A gangster-themed evening would make for a perfect stag party – you just need a poker table, fancy dress and some dodgy Italian accents and you have your very own Casino-themed event. The craps table is another good bet for this theme – remember the dice on the movie poster.

James Bond

No one does casinos like James Bond and there is a wealth of options for a 007-themed evening. Mix your martinis the right way and don the black tux and you’re already halfway there. Great for all kinds of events, from a charity casino night to stag parties, the James Bond theme is a classic. A roulette table is a must, but you can really take it a stage further with a full host of backdrops and props to create the full Bond experience for you and your guests.

With Bond you can take it a step further and focus on one particular film, be it Las Vegas from Diamonds Are Forever, the depiction of Macau in The Man with the Golden Gun or Montenegro in Casino Royale – the archetypal casino-meets-spy movie.

Ocean’s Eleven

Cool, sophisticated and ballsy- just how most men would like to see themselves. Whether you want to make it classic Ratpack or go for the updated version, an Ocean’s Eleven themed casino night is sure to be a hit. Pitt and Clooney or Sinatra and Davis Jr; the essence is the same whether you go Fifties or Noughties.

It’s fun as an intimate evening, like a stag do, but this theme works particularly well for larger events. If you’re opting for the classic Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin style, a Ratpack tribute act would complete the event. Serve whisky cocktails and make sure everyone rocks up in Mad Men style suits and the theme is complete.
