Northamptonshire casino wrapped over poker night stunt
A Northamptonshire casino has been forced to apologise after a picture of a semi-naked model was apparently projected onto a church.
The publicity stunt was for a strip poker night being held at Aspers casino in Northampton, something that sent the priest at All Saints' Church into a bit of a spin after worried parishioners began contacting him.
And whilst it angered religious leaders in the community, it seems the image was a fake and the casino had never actually projected anything on to the landmark. It turns out in fact that the image circulated on social media was down to photoshop, the casino admitted afterwards.
“Aspers can assure the Church of England and anyone concerned that no picture was ever projected on to All Saints Church,” the casino operator said in a statement seen by the BBC.
"The picture is entirely down to computer wizardry."
The stunt was publicising the strip poker night on February 14th – certainly an interesting alternative to the usual Valentine’s night meal out in the local restaurant!
While the amusing image was not in the best of taste, it was not intended to offend. Aspers was recently voted the best casino operator in Europe at the International Gaming Awards 2014 and is a super venue if you enjoy having a flutter. But it got us thinking about the various ways you can arrange your own Valentine’s evening by hiring a poker table in Northamptonshire – and anywhere else, for that matter.
Fun casinos are great for just about any form of party you can think of, and a Valentine’s night bash is no exception. If you don’t want to hit the real casino on February 14th, hiring a casino table or two is a great alternative.
Why not get the boys round for a lads night in? Whilst we don’t recommend you go down the strip poker route (save that for the changing rooms), a spot of Texas Hold ’Em will make for a great night in while all your couple mates are out paying too much in overpriced restaurants.
Alternatively, a couples night in with a game of poker is an unusual but fun way to get the evening flowing. Again we reckon that any strip version of the game should be best left to Aspers in town!
